i have a desktop wired into a router via ethernet and a laptop accesed
through wireless adapter. i can ping the laptop from the desktop, however i cannot ping the desktop from the laptop, why? all answers graciously accepted =?Utf-8?B?U2hhdW4=?= |

1. Are both your desktop and laptop able to ping the default gateway?
2. The most likely issue based on your information appears to be something to do with firewall. If you have the firewall enabled on the desktop, you might not be able to ping it. To check, on your desktop machine goto start->Network Connections->Right click on your ethernet connection->Properties->Advanced tab->Settings. Here you can enable/disable/allow exceptions for that particular connection. 3. If there is no firewall issue, it could be some problem with the router.
