Seems like all you can get here is a striped down version and very over priced at that, plus
overseas reviews do not mean a thing here.

Was looking at the Motorola V360V, but you do not get a data cable or a Memory card here, plus no
games, and from its original price it was 2 times the OZZ Price that has games, data cable and a
memory card.

So how can I find out about phone here, full details and you just can't test in a shop.

You can buy a phone overseas and use it here. Also there are importers
etc that do this for you, have a look on pricespy.co.nz. Just make sure
it's not locked to a certain network (it won't be unless you buy it from
that network or as part of a contract or something. AFAIK vodafone don't
lock any of their phones (no need as there is no competing GSM network)
however this may no longer be the case, I last bought one 2 years ago.

From what I have seen of http://www.parallelimported.co.nz/ there prices are a lot dearer than DSE
or Even Vodafone, as Parallel imported are not keeping up with the price drops here for the older
models, plus the Big problem with Warrantee or Replacements.



Plus the prices I have seen from a few searches on Price spy they are also very high.

I've gotten a couple of mine from eBay, the prices are a lot better.
You do have to watch out for customs, but I haven't had any problems
with them.

As for the warranty -- just don't buy phones from crap manufacturers,
I've only been stung by it once, and most of that was from the
scam-artists doing the repair work.

The v360v is an excellent phone especially for its price.

I paid $249 + tradein on mine earlier this year and that one came with
a 64MB memory card and headphones/handsfree - no data cable though.

I understand the current $199 ones don't come with headphones or
memory card.

The memory cards can be picked up from Trademe for $30 for 256MB or
$50 for 512MB.

The headphones use a special 2.5" connector. The standard set aren't
very comfortable. You're better off buying a special adapter off eBay
for $15 and using your own headphones (although you do lose the
handsfree mic feature when you do this)

Are we not being conned here by False advertising, it states Hands free and MP3, but the head
phone set is not Even sold here.

Plus the phone is unusable with it 5 megs of Memory.

I can't remember if the phone has hands free calling or not. If it
does, I've never used it.

The internal memory is a bit small but in theory you could load an MP3
snippet/sample or a small MP3 song in it (the phone will only use an
MP3 as a ring tone if its in the internal memory)

The 64MB card mine came with wasn't really enough to use as an MP3
player but at least its expandable - the Samsung ZV10 can't be
expanded which severely limits the usefulness of being able to play
MP3's.

The MP3 playing application isn't the best but there are ways to get
the v360 MP3 player loaded onto the phone.

Agreed - the best places to buy new phones are DSE and Noel Leemings.

Both run some good specials on phones now and then.

I got my v360v deal from Noel Leemings and recently picked up a
(Telecom) Sanyo 7500 for $348 including $100 phone credit from DSE
Powerhouse. The phone is being sold for $599 everywhere else.

I also picked up a cheap Nokia 1100 from Noel Leemings a while back
for $68 including a prepaid sim pack.

You can also get the odd new phone at a good price on Trademe -
usually an import - but generally they're only a few $$$ less than
retail and you've got the hassle of reprogramming it yourself.
