To help, I'm going to rephrase what Jack said.

You have to set the IP addresses of each computer in the AdHoc Network,
because they wont be on the same subnet, because of no DHCP Server.
So a thing to try is set one computer to 192.168.1.4 and the other to
192.168.1.5... in the same subnet mask. Then if the folders are shared on
each computer already just open IE and browse to file:\\192.168.1.4 or
file:\\192.168.1.5 respectivly.
This should connect to each machine and bring up their shared folders.
