It doesn't matter whether it be commercial or non-commercial.
The easiest, fastest, way to get it known with the search engines is to
get somebody to put a link from an existing indexed website to your
website.
Other ways may end up with you either having to pay for it or having to
give your email address, with a consequent deluge of spam.
Be warned, if you try to design your page to get it ranked highly when
using a particular search term you may end up being dumped from the index.
Google penalises people and organisations for doing that.
