Ah but Orcon pinched that idea from Ihug were they were the only flat
rate provider in town and all the rest charged by the hour because "flat
rate would never work".

I fondly remember those nights of constant redialling several phone
numbers trying to connect to a non-busy modem and it was cause for
celebration when there was a MOTD message such as "We've added another
50 modems".

That's why I never recommend Ihug, I want my bandwidth for me

The toll calls are just like on Telecom - no difference whatsoever. I
think all that is happening is that we are being billed from Ihug (at
a cheaper rate). It does not seem that the tolls traffic is actually
going anywhere near Ihug's network.

I havent used them for tolls for a long time, but whenever I get a call from
someone that uses the ihug calling card it sounds really shitty. Makes cdma
sound awesome in comparison.

aaaaahhhhh... dude grow a brain ! we are not in "other places in the
world". We are in "some politician got completely ****ed at a lunch that
Telecom paid for in Wellington and agreed to let them do whatever they
liked" land !
