Thanks Miguel,

It would seem that it's likely Telecom's fault from what I can gather.

Well! I decided about 25 minutes ago to play Diablo 2 for a while, I haven't
played for a few days, unusual for me but I was getting sick of the
disconnects. I like to play after midnite and that's when it seems I get
them.

Same just happened. I got a game up and running, three PCs in it with
different characters, start playing and.. "Your connection has been
interrupted". Stand up and look at the LEDs on the modem and, sure enough,
the third one is orange, not green. I think; "Fusk this", turn off the other
two PCs and then notice that the LED's green again.

So it went out for maybe 90 seconds, just long enough to ruin my game and
force me into the unpleasant habit of watching something on TV to wind down
before bed. That makes it (at least) 14 disconnects since the 23rd. It's 2am
on the 29th. That's not good huh?

Actually it's worse than that. Just checked Orcon's page for my stats and
it's 17 disconnects, 4 in the last 24 hours; 3:15am, 4:56am, 12:53pm and
then again at 1:47am tonight.

I guess I need to ring the helldesk, I wonder if they're manned on Sunday?

Just rang, 11am to 8pm Sat and Sun. 8 to 8 weekdays. They will be hearing
from me tomorrow I think. I could do with a laugh, this is depressing. I
paid them over $90 a week ago. On the day the invoice was emailed to me too.

I'm on Orcon as well and I probably get disconnected 3 times per month. I am
generally very happy with their service

Honestly, that sounds like your Router playing up to me.

Have you got a mate you can swap routers with for a couple of days?

I'm pretty sure it's not the router ay. I'm currently getting advice on
upgrading the firmware in it. I may try using a USB ADSL modem I have here
for a while. It's a hassle to do but I'll give it a try. I'm pretty sure
it's a relatively localised Telecom problem. 80% of the disconnects are in
the 1am - 4am time period and the other 20% seem to happen in clusters, as
if there's something that's repeatedly malfunctioning over short periods.
(Maybe DSLAM?)

Cheers,

Where are you dude? I wish there were a reader or two local to me who are
using a similar plan. I know of one guy in Pukekhoe who is on ADSL, although
it's not UBS, it's Telecom, and that's fine. However, Pukekohe is in two
ADSL "zones", or so I was told last time I was patient enough to persue a
problem. My 'zone' was down for a while that time.

Ho hum.

Foxton / Manawatu - out in the country.

I'm on the Orcon 2mbps auto-sense UBS thingy.

I'm on Orcon too. For this billing cycle, I've been on for 10 days,
I've had a session for 4 days, 2 days, and one that's lasted 4 days so
far. I'm not having the same problem with Orcon.

Ditto. For the time being.
