Never, ever, ever deal with 'super cheap computers'!

They do not respond to warranty claims, and have behaved very badly in all
regards of warranty claims from many people. They are routinely discussed
on the web as perhaps the worst dealers in the country.

No doubt some will doubt what I say. Well fine: find out the hard way.

It is pretty much the best featured writer out there. One nice feature is
that it will read the physical properties of the disk, and adjust speeds
accordingly - e.g. if a 4x disk will actually write at 6x or 12x, it'll
write it at those speeds. It works too.

It's important because rom upgrades for them never have every disk listed
in them.

Also does book type settings (important for playback in set top dvd
players).

Gets rave reviews everywhere.

No, but as usual you get what you pay for - PB have a decent amount of
stock available for immediate collection, and are a piece of **** to
deal with for warranty issues. The slight premium you pay for dealing
with them is well worthwhile for the headaches you avoid.

Doh.,..... its been a good drive but just ****ing me off with not using this
media Im buying..... as I mentioned maybe its just the media it dosent like
and the drive itself is working fine... but I need to be able to use media I
buy so another drive is the best way to go... if I end up with 2 drives that
work with all media between them...well I wont complain

cheapest but usually have stock on hand etc whereas the cheaper suppliers
dont have it at the time we need it.

Woger says:

NEC came out best.

Wogers article says...

Of all the units we tested for this article, two models had the best overall
performance: the NEC ND-3540A and the Toshiba SDR-5472. The Toshiba is
actually slightly ahead....

To me, this says that the toshiba came out best.

Also, wogers article does not measure write errors. I liked this link
better...
