no wireless when connected to port replicator

I have recently purchased a port replicator for my Dell Inspiron 8600 laptop.
I have a wireless network at my home, but when I attach the laptop to the
port replicator, it will not search for any wireless connections. If I
detach the computer (as I am doing now) from the port replicator, I'm back in
business, and it connects to the wireless network. Any thoughts?
