Just thinking out loud really.

But thinking that 2 6600GTs SLi'd on 1 monitor is easy. Is it possible to
set it up so that you have 4 monitors (2 each card) for 2D and then software
switiching to SLi mode having 2 cards driving 1 monitor for 3D?
