I know I know, this subject has been done to death, but Im getting less
and less spam at the moment, it is quite odd.

one email address that I have used to business for the last 18 months
got it's first spam today, but because it was from an Orcon static IP, I
was able to check customers who I have done work for on a static, and
found who it was and advised them(they didn't do it, they just got
trojaned).

I've gone from getting over ~40 spam and ~40 legit emails a day, to ~10
spam and ~50 legit emails in the last 6 months or so.

Supposedly everyone else is having the same problem, and it's meant to
be getting worse.

No increase or decrease for me, I have actually turned off my ISP based
filter since it started randomly hitting regular emails that I get.

It's too bad Bush didn't declare war on spam, instead of Iraq.

Yeah, lots of innocent people who just happened to get a worm or have their
unprotected pc's hijacked jailed without trial. Then of course they'd kill
several of their own agents and those of other countries.

I'm not sure if there is less spam or the filters are becoming more
effective, recently of course some of the bigger ones have been shutdown.

"email melt down" a little over the top me thinks.

Up til now spammers have refrained from sending via ISPs servers so ISPs
have generally done little to combat the problem. Now it is hitting
their servers hard I can but hope that they will finally sort their
users out, if only by taking them off line.

ISPs who have done little or nothing about the problem have just set
them selves up for this, serves them right.

I suppose you are right, they would have screwed it up. Lynndie and
Sabrina and Charlie torturing suspect spammers in the new federal
spammer facility.... Oh well, we can't win

Funny you should mention it....

I have a dummy 'honey pot' account on our home mail server specifically
for attracting and monitoring SPAM. The SMAP levels (excluding those
rejected by the MTA) for this dummy account have gone right down to 0 -
4 per day over the last few weeks. The bulk of the SPAM sent to the
domain doesn't get past MTA UCE controls. Real accounts aren't getting
any SPAM for local delivery.

The levels of SPAM on my paradise and clear ISP accounts haven't changed
much over the last few months. Neither of these accounts received any
SPAM until paradise and clear instituted SPAM filtering in late 2003.
The clear account hasn't been used by me since around 2000 (It first
started recieving SPAM late 2003).

I still don't receive any SPAM on my business account (no filtering
required).

Let's see...

.... demanding regime change and the removal of Sanford Wallace ...

.... invading the spammers, taking over all their servers, and declaring
an end to major hostilities ...

.... and then finding that items of spam keep turning up in the e-mails
of the occupying forces, with no idea where they're coming from. As the
problem gets worse, Bush continues to exist that he has made the world a
safer place for e-mail, even as it becomes clear that the occupied
servers are in fact becoming a haven for spammers.

But at least Americans would see through it, and not be stupid enough to
re-elect him president, would they??
