no, other than they probably don't want to.
excess traffic means excess usage charges, so more money to mummy
company Telecom.

Most NZ ISPs have a crappy approach to this sort of thing.

I've had issues with both Xtra and Telstra users trying to hack my system at
home or launching bot attacks. Both times neither were really interested.
Until such time as the ISPs are financially responsible they don't seem to
give a damn.

If we ever get Spam laws it may change.

For many months off and on, I have been receiving 'emails' that are
originating from a jetstream/xtra account.

Last night I sent a bunch to xtra once again.
I have noted that they are all 'returned' from sources that confirm
they have no such email addy and all are pretty much the same body
text.

Is there any reason why xtra is unable to catch the person or persons
responsible?

Following is an example:

TIA, Cath
btw I've fudge my email address here..

When I ran the first couple thru SpamCop to confirm the headers, they
came up with a couple of so I've been forwarding
them to these two addresses plus abuse@

Now, if I sent them via SpamCop, would it make any difference to if
xtra paid any attention or not?

You do all realise that there headers are just a part of a text file,
can be whatever you want them to be, and play no part in the delivery of
the mail in the first place?

All you can do is report them to your isp, giving the exact date and
time they were delivered, and they can look through their mail logs to
see who sent them. Maybe.

Steve.

Those headers can be spoofed......so there is no guarantee that is where the
mail really came from.

When you send to it, you are getting a response saying the account has been
discontinued....and it may well have been.
