Aren't they great at marketing

The scarcity factor. When an item is perceived to be scarce, its
attractiveness increases.

Like diamonds. After all, coal's not that attractive.

Then again, 1GB of email storage *is* attractive.

.... or alternatively it's attractiveness is the 1Gb storage capacity versus
Hotmail's completely hopeless 2Mb, which they have been promising to upgrade
for some months now but haven't (not mine, anyway).

Speaking of great marketing, one particular MS campaign has always stuck
in my mind (although the product name now escapes me):

Q: Why upgrade to <product x> ?

A: Because you can.

Talk about compelling ...
