Hi There
Have a few problems while trying to access my wireless router. I have set up the connection and am having trouble actaully connecting. It says that the connection is unsecure and would i like to connect any way. i click yes but this is then repeated. When i do get a connection, if i ping the router it will say "destination host not available." I checked the router by linking directly with a laptop and it says its ip address range is 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.250 The ip address on my computer is obtained automatically, it is usually coming up and around 162.254........ Would changing the range of the ip address on the comp so it fits with the router, however, i dont want to be using static ip adresses. is there something i am missing plain and simple? any help is very greatful Many Thanks =?Utf-8?B?RGF2aWQgSGFycmlzb24=?= |

Hi
The 169.254.xxxx.xxxx IP is the default IP that Windows sets when it can not find an IP Server (DHCP). In your case it means that there is No Wireless connection to the Router, so changing the IP manually would not help. Make sure that the Wireless Card is installed correctly and the Network is set Right In General, you can debug the Network Settings of a computer by following these steps. Step One. Check the Network parameters in the Computer's Device Manager. Make sure that the Network Card drivers are installed correctly; i.e. there is No IRQ conflict, and No Ghost installation. http://www.ezlan.net/faq#ghost Step Two Verify Basic network setting in the OS: http://www.ezlan.net/Installing#verify If every thing checks correctly reconfigure the Wireless.
