Transfering videos from camcorder to hard drive

Happy new year folks,

I have an older camcorder - Sharp VL-E610 camcorder and would like to
convert old videos I have to digital format for uploading to youtube,
etc. Does anyone knows of any software (preferably freeware or
shareware) that can be used to do this?

Also, not as important, but nice to have -- program to record videos
from the computer onto the same camcorder.

What's the interface? I mean, how does your camera or
its content connect to the PC?

Have never connected to PC -- used the red and black plugs to connect to
a TV input.
