yep. buy a new motherboard........



Oops.

No you can't "convert" USB1.1 to USB2.0. What you can do is buy a PCI
USB2.0 card and put that in a PCI slot.

But be careful.

In a twist of marketing, USB 1.1 (11Mb/s) got renamed to USB 2

So now there's 11Mb/s USB2 and 400Mb/s USB2.

You don't want low speed devices on your (real) USB2 bus, so it's
worthwhile having a slow USB bus for mice, modems and other cruft.

The motherboards usb ? No.

You will need to buy a USB 2.0 PCI card. Make sure it does 400mbits/sec
though. (might be 480).

When the version 2.0 spec of USB came out, it had 3 speeds in it, low, full and
high, the previous spec (1.1) only had low and full

therefore its totally correct to say that a device is usb 2.0 complient when it
only supports low speed, what you want to look for is high speed usb.
Unfortunatly mo-bo manafacturers decided to call the ports USB 2 and people got
confused.

Not really an issue, the controler will put it on the appropriate root hub based
on the speed that the device is.

Yeah, it's 480Mbps for USB2.0. Firewire is 400.
