Default Stop DHCP Server in XP

Hi,

I am going to install a wireless router tomorrow, currently the user has
broadband but has been using ICS with some problems. From what he has told me
I would guess that he has run the Internet sharing Wizard on both machines
and both are therefore trying to act as DHCP servers.

I am going to install a wireless router so there will be n need for the PC's
to use ICS, I know I cant just turn off the DHCP feature in XP and will have
to run the Wizard again to chage the settings to using the router instead but
it is a long time since |i have had to do this and have forgotten which
options to select. If anyone could help me out with this would be extremely
grateful

regards

Elizabeth

Hi

ICS is a combo of Software Router and DHCP.

Wireless or Wired Cable/DSL Router act as a Router to Route the Internet
signal to the Network's computers, and are also equipped with DHCP server.

Therefore if you use a Router ICS has to be Off.

You do not need to run wizards, just log to the Network properties switch
Off ICS, and make sure that the TCP/IP properties are all set to obtain
Auto.

The content of this page might help, http://www.ezlan.net/Installing.html
