Hi, I am just starting to make my 1st web page.

Using Word 2000 .........(I know, don't give me grief!)

I am wanting to put in a counter using this.... <IMG
SRC="counter.ctr?dd=C&ft=12" align=absmiddle>

It shows up as HTML code, how do I get it to display the counter. (I think I
am s'posed to insert and "image tag", how do I do that,)

Ta

I think your best bet is to use either notepad or the free HTML kit
(which is very good for your need)
The code looks alright, if it is on one line.

The common standard used now a days is to have all tags written in lower
case with attributes surrounded in quotation marks.
<img src="counter.ctr?dd=C&ft=12" align="middle" />
You may want to check the source file.

You are basically wasting your time with word, especially if you want
to add code into it. Download a trial version of dreamweaver, its
fantastic software, although I know many purists don't like it.

You could just not include a counter. There are ways of knowing how many
visitors you've had without using one.

Counters scream amateur, and put alot of people of.

Just my 2c.

Would probably help if you told Southern Kiwi what those methods are, if
you are advocating not using one.

Presuming the counter is for Southern Kiwi's benefit and not for the
visitors, then most web hosts should offer a far more detailed reporting
tool than just a counter ie graphs, breakdowns, browser stats, traffic,
visitor IPs etc etc.

Bruce is right though - a counter does look very 1996 (I never thought I'd
say something like that hehe).

Cheers

Save as HTML, then edit it with Notepad, and stick the chunk in at the
appropriate point.

<I know, no grief. But you really really really shouldn't use word to
create web pages>
