I have a new hp laptop running 64 bit Vista and 64 bit Explorer 7. My
favorites are gone when I click to view them. Adding new favorites seems to
work, but then when you open favorites, once again they are gone. I still
have a working history. If I go and open C drive and find my favorites file
and open it , everything is there. They just dont show up in my favorites
window any longer. Where is the favorites file suppose to be located? Maybe
mine got moved and is no longer linked to my favorites button. I tried to
download and reinstall IE7 but then it stops and tells me I must login as the
administrator before it will setup program. I AM the administrator but dont
use a password because I am the only one that uses my laptop. So that is
another problem in itself. I have run out of ideas. Help!! Im not a big
fan of Vista any longer.

Use the default 32-bit Explorer and see if you can see them OK.

I have see some drag an old Favourites folder into the new Favourites folder
and get your results. Make sure you have shortcut icons in your favourites
folder. Open your folder, open an IE browse to a page you want in your
favourites, drag the little symbol from the front of the address into your
favourites folder. See if it show up in the dropdown. You may have to
clear the favourites folder completely and start from scratch.
