beta exams for free for everyone?

Are those exams free for everyone or only for MCSD and MCAD?

Everyone can take the PRO/TS exams. Only the MCAD/MCSD upgrades ones are
limited to MCAD/MCSDs respectively.

It depends. Some of the new exams (like 442) are normally open to general
public (although sometimes restrictions apply i.e. geographical limitations)
but most of the beta exams are only available to those who have taken the
previous versions of the exams.

For upgrade exams it doesn't make sense if you take it without having the
existing credentials.
