Default Cert 70-290

There appears to be an upgrade course # 2208 for the 70-290 cert for NT4
MCSE's. Does anyone know if there is a book on the course 2208 instead of
having to physically attend a seminar for 3 day's. I have not found a book to
study from as of yet.

Thanks,

Dhar

To tell you the truth, If I were you I would just go ahead and purchase the
regular training kit for 70-290 and not worry about course 2208. The fact
is that Server 2003 is VERY different from NT. Trying to draw parallels
between those products would be difficult at best. I can't believe
Microsoft could stretch that to 3 days anyway. Your MCSE NT4 will satisfy
the elective requirement for MCSE 2003, but you will still have to take all
4 core exams plus a design elective, plus a client elective (unless you used
70-210 or 70-270 for your MCSE NT4). Because of the introduction of Active
Directory and group policies, about the only thing from NT4 which will be
helpful on the 70-290 exam is an understanding of the old domain models
(where you had resource domains and user domains) and how to
update/reorganize and consolidate those to single AD domains in 2003, which
will be covered in the 70-290 training kit.

Of course, that is just personal opinion. Your mileage may vary.

Thanks John...I was considering going thru the 70-290 as you suggested and in
the back of my mind I had to consider the upgrade course when I noticed it.
The info you provided is very helpful and accurate as I viewed the same info
on the MS site. Again thanks for your assistance.

The other thing to consider is that only 7% of the upgrade exams are
passed...
Your time and money are better spent going the direct route!

Where did you get this statistic from? If it is real I'd be interested in
seeing the overall pass/fail rate statistics.
