Hi Phil,

I took the exam several months ago and scored in the 890s. What you have to
understand going into this test is that it is not only a technical test but
you must also understand a bit of the business behind small businesses.

The best exam prep book I have seen on it so far is Harry Brelsford's SMB
Series: Small Business Specialist Primer & 70-282 Exam Preparation Guide (by
Beatrice Mulzer & Harry Brelsford). It is readily available on-line and can
really help you with this exam.

Having said that I know that Microsoft is planning to replace the exam
shortly. I wrote the beta exam for the next version and though not much more
challenging if you know your stuff, it will include a lot of questions that
are not SBS specific (or are specifically not SBS questions) that you had
better know if you hope to pass the exam.

Good luck and let us know how it goes!

I'm not sure when they changed the 70-282 exam, the I took today (05-18-06)
was a beast. It was only 41 questions, 105 min. long. They were very few SBS
questions, alot of Exchange and Server 2003. I did my studying from Harry's
book on the 70-282 Exam and got the MeasureUp 30day practice exam with 156
questions. I can guarentee you that 2/3 of the test was not in the book and
practice exam. I have had my MCSE for 11 years. I failed the exam with a
score of 641.

I just took the test today (5-24-06) and 75Corvette is absolutely right.. it
was brutal!! It was 41 questions and the practice exams were not much help.
Only about 10% of the exam was about SBS Server. I have had my MCSE for 8
years, been consulting for 2, and failed with a 641.

Guys there is a misconception that the 70-282 exam is a Small Business Server
exam. It is not. It is partially technical but also partially about
business practices and understanding small business. Whereas the answer in
so many enterprise-level exams is just 'add another server' in 70-282 you
have to know the best and least expensive way to do things. You have to
understand more than just the technical, and that is what we intended for.

Don't rely on practice tests... read the material, install and use the
program, but know people. Oh, and remember the one exam tip I give people:
READ THE QUESTIONS. Too many people skim and get tricked... they see Windows
Server 2003 and read Windows Small Business Server 2003. Be careful with
that and good luck!

I must admit I was a bit overconfident and unprepared. It was a very fair
and thorough test of ones consulting knowledge and ability to provide needs
based MS Solutions.

Study hard all, this new version is an excellent challenge!

Hi

I also have just taken this exam, I also am very very experienced in the
Microsft Products and exams.
And I also failed with a 641 pass mark. We all failed with the same mark???

It was the worst test I have ever taken. And worst still, as the prep books
and the 2395A cousre is no good for this exam, there is now no reference to
start from.

The prep guide from their site is for the old exam so is the old prep tests
and the prep books.

So you go into this Exam, not being able to prepare.

Finally a totally unreferenced Exam??
