jpgs and jpegs dont show up in thumbnail view

I am running Windows 2000 and suddenly my jpegs and jpgs don't display in thumbnail view when I open a folder in Windows Explorer. All other file types (bmp, tif, cdr etc.) are OK. Any ideas please?
