First off, let me apologize for taking almost 45 minutes to answer your most obvious question. I can assure you, my supervisors won't take kindly to me taking so long to get back to you. It truly is best that when you need to know the answers to very basic questions that you do in fact insist that you get an answer ASAP. To answer your question, I suggest you start here... www.microsoft.com/learning Again, please accept my sincere apologies for the unforgiveable delay in getting back to you. John R John R |

The learning home page has information on training resources, as well as MCSE requirements. To actually take a test, you need to contact Microsoft's testing partner, www.prometric.com John R John R |

To earn MCSE, you will be tested on various skills such as managing the server product, managing the network infrastructure, designing security, managing workstations, etc, etc. Certifications are meant to validate existing experience. Microsoft offers training courses which you should be able to easily identify from the learning homepage. If you go to the link that MG posted, http://www.microsoft.com/learning/mcp/mcse/default.mspx, (or from the learning homepage, select 'Certifications', and then select MCSE) and then select either MCSE 2003 or MCSE 2000 (whichever you are interested in), you will see the exact testing requirements. In the requirement tables, they list Microsoft training courses, both classroom, distance, and e-learning. You can also view the testing objectives by clicking on any of the tests. Once you are sure you know the objectives, you can decide if you are ready to take the test. Once you complete all of the testing requirements, Microsoft will award the certification. Again, this all starts back at the learning home page. Other vendors offer varying amounts of training depending on what you want to spend. In general, you should stay away from anything that looks like a brain dump and concentrate on learning the material that you do not already have experience with. If you have any questions about brain dumps or particular vendors, I would suggest you research them on certguard.com. John R John R |

Check with Microsoft's testing partner www.prometric.com if you are in a different area to find out how much they are there. When did it become public.cert.exam.handholding? Hey, Idan? If you are unable to figure out the most basic questions regarding certification, you might as well just give up now. You don't have what it takes. MCSE's need to be able to do basic research to solve problems. There will be a heck of a lot more complicated questions coming down the road, and it's unlikely anyone will want to or be able to give you all the answers. MCSE does *not* stand for Must Consult Someone Else. -- JaR Just a friendly kick in the pants Remove hat to reply JaR |
