Default Limited or no connectivity

My Setup
Router: Thompson SpeedTouch 576
Laptop: HP Pavilion zd8290ea with Broadcom in built wireless

- My laptop is seeing the wireless network from my router.
- I made sure I have entered the correct key.
- However, the message that comes up is "Limited or no connectivity. You
might not be able to access the Internet or some network rescources. This
problem occurred because the network did not assign a network adderss to the
computer."

- Please HELP!

Try static IP addresses under TCP/IP properties.
Also Run ipconfig /all (from a DOS box, if the result
flashes by and disappears).
This will show your settings.
Maybe one or more of the IP addresses is wrong.

I had that problem initially,it was one of the settings,i dont remember
which it was,but how i resolved that was to make sure that the settings were
consistent with the router settings

How do I make sure these setings are consistent with the router? Do you have
anything a bit more specific by any chance?

Also, how do i configure my laptop to run a static IP address?

I had this same problem and spent days trying to fix it..in the end I reloaded the drivers for the ethernet card.. and it worked instantly...
The only problem now is that I can't get the wlan led to light up so I cant connect wirelessly to my laptop.
I've reloaded the drivers time after time hard resetting the modem.
In the modem setup programe the only reference I have to wireless is the level of security question (i've tried all 3 settings)
I also have no reference to wireless devices in the speedtouch setup pages.
I've also tried the AOL setup but that stops with an error ..it doesn't like the ssid and wep settings.. but the setup doen't invite you to set them!
Could it be i've got a corrrupt setup which is missing some files?
Any other ideas?.. Please!
Chris
