It looks like I will have the opportunity to set up and manage a W2K3 server
at a small law office, which I volunteered to do for experience. Combined with studying MCSE exams, do you think it's possible that after only a year, it would be possible to do this for real, break into the I/T field and actually get paid for it? Do employers consider volunteer work? Can I list it as just a regular job? plazticsoul |

As for you last two questions: definitely yes, and no, in that order. steve. molsonexpert |

Can I list it as just a regular job? there's no such thing as the generic group 'employers'. people responsible for hiring are people, and they will be as diverse as people can be. some of them want to abuse you, some of them want to be abused, some of them want to use you, some of them want to be used by you. if you are hoping to have them validate your good samaritan efforts, some of them will probably completely overlook it. some of them will hate you for volunteering and others may praise you for it.some of them will be annoyed at the fact that they aren't at home watching the smurfs. some of them wish they were wearing ladies undergarments. some of them have a craving for cheeseburgers. and maybe one or two of them is actually genuinely concerned with your qualifications and experience. and some of them are wondering why the alignment of the planets and the existance of the full moon is causing Ralph Nader to feel an itch in his nether regions on every third Easter Sunday. I have the answer, but it takes a lot of math, so I won't go into it. Ask Neil, he seems to have all the answers. Neil, please provide us with all the answers. Microcephalic S.
