I am looking at doing Electronics but theres a course at Uni i want to do which is a double degree, IT and Engineering with a major in electronics

IT and (I assume) electrical engineering? Is that what you mean by a major in engineering? Just getting your electrical engineering degree is gonna be tough - better start brushing up on the calculus and chemistry. I didn't prepare well for that coming out of high school, so I had to take pre-calculus and pre-chemistry, which resulted in 5 years at school. Of course, I also started with a major in auto mechanics, so I took some of those courses too. I learned that auto mechanics wasn't for me after going through engine rebuilding. It wasn't fun after all - just a pain in the ass.
