32-bit apps CAN access \system32 folder in Vista x64

I know this is going to open a debate here.
A couple of posts ago I stated that the 32-bit file manager ZtreeWin could
access the real \system32 folder without being redirected (fooled) to the
\syswow64 one.
As I had no technical proof, except for the practical one of using and
testing it, I checked my old e-mails and found the ones I exchanged with the
ZtreeWin programmer (Kim Henkel).
The method is well described by Microsoft here, including an example of a
32-bit app launching the 64-bit Notepad.exe
