Default Windows Configuration utility is not working

The icon kept saying that there were networks in range and to click on the
pop.up When you do, there are none listed. I restarted the wireless
connection services in services.msc. I disabled and re enabled the adpater
and uninstalled and reinstalled the adapter's driver. I made sure that it was
the Intel driver. Since windows was giving me problems. I downloaded the
configuration utility that Intel supplies with its driver download. It works
perfectly.

What could be causing the issue with Windows. Also, when I add my preferred
network and save the settings. I can go back in and it is not even listed as
if I never created it. Very strange.

The Windows utility and PROSet use different ways to retrieve the list of networks.
You may want to install the latest updates for Windows wireless support, this can help.
