How to get beyond a shared internet connection

I have a number of computers and 2 Tivos sharing a broadband internet
connection. One PC is connected by direct ethernet to my wireless access
point and router. The other PC, laptop, powerbook and two tivos all connect
wirelessly to the same device which is connected to my cable modem.

Everything works ok but I can't figure out how to get the devices to see
each other. I've tried running various networking wizards. My powerbook can
see the windows computers sometimes but I've never been able to share files
or printers. My main PC that is connected by Ethernet can't see anything but
the router.

Should I set up my network from scratch to try to get the workgroup part to
work? Even my TIVO's, which can see each other on the Wireless network can't
be seen by my PC. If I do set up a new network using a combination
wired/wireless like I have now which wizards do I run in what order? Would
it be simpler to have an all-wireless network?

I would appreciate any guidance that is offered.
