i have a usb drive connected to a remote computer and sometimes the
drive will not show.
the only way i can get it to show is if i disconnect and reconnect it
manually.
this is not always convenient.
is there a command or script i can use to refresh the usb port and get
the drive to show up.
things ive tried:-
1. refresh and rescan disks in management console.
2. scan for hardware changes in device manager
3. restart the system

im running xp sp2 on 2 different computers and both have the same problem.

i tried uninstalling each of the usb components in device manager and
rebooting. on reboot windows reinstalled everything but still didnt
detect the drive.
