So, I acheived the first of my MCP's a few months ago, 70-294...
I'm now hearing that the structure of certification is changing and that some exams require upgrade exams etc... So, my quetion is two fold, is my exam now outdated and obsolete now and what is my path to gaining the next level of certification, still called MCSE/A I beleive? Thanks, Chris =?Utf-8?B?Q2hyaXM=?= |

Ahh, got this http://www.microsoft.com/learning/mcp/newgen/
Perhpas I should be stood up against a wall and shot! But, still not totally understnading whether I am now obsolete or whether I can just continue to work on my previous plan of MCSA/E... The Microsoft website seems to have plenty of links but very little concrete information to follow... =?Utf-8?B?Q2hyaXM=?= |

MS will continue to churn out MCPs as long as people are willing to take the exams. Why not, it's a money farm. Recognizing, however, that the practice has resulted in MCSE/A certifying nothing but an ability to take tests, they are now embarking on a 'real' set of certs that require actual experience in the field using the software to attain. So, to answer your question, no, you are not obsolete. MS is just finally kind of acknowledging, if not actually admitting, what others have known for some time. -- JaR Thug 10110 MCNGP.com JaR |

Yes. But if you read between the lines, and based on historical knowledge of how MS handles this, your old certs as still valid, they are just old certs. As long as they offer them they are still good to be had, they just will become old one day. Like all things. So you just need to decide which ones you want. kpg kpg |
