Default A few questions for people that have passed their MCSE.

I have my MCSE NT4.0 cert and now I am finally ready to get my MCSE 2003 cert.

1) I was wondering which path is the most popular. (Obviously "70-290 -
70-294", and 70-270 after that I'm guessing 70-297 but here is where I'm not
sure about. Should I go with 70-298 for my elective or something else out of
the elective exams?

2) What course study books have you found to be the most accurate and most
helpful in passing the exams?

3) What pre-testing guides or sites have you found to be most accurate and
most helpful in passing the exams?

Thanks in advance for all the communities help.

1) Whatever is most applicable to your job.

2) Depends on who you ask.

3) Depends on who you ask.

I would recommend google for all your FAQ needs.

Try this. I recently attended a class with 2 nt4 mcse. They failed 4 out of
7 tests.
There is alot of new info. Take this route. 270 290 291 294 293 299 298
I say this because they mix the questions up now and that order builds on
each other. The last one 298 is different.
299 covers the same info and its in microsofts question format. The 298 is
in a case study format and can be very tough to study for.
270 is xp but comes from microsofts view that you have it networked with a
2003 server so they will ask some 290 questions. 290 asks some dns questions
from 291. etc.. etc..
I passed them all but 291 and that order really helps, and its easier then
the upgrade test which has a huge question base to pull from and you had
better be on the ball.

Thank for you're help T-Bone but I was looking for your opinion.

I have done some research already regarding questions 2 & 3, but again I was
just hoping I could get some suggestions from people that have used those
produces.

Maybe an idea of what is good and what to stay away from.

I will ultimately make up my own mind, but just looking for some peoples
opinions so I can make an educated decision.

Stay away from braindumps. I've used MS Press books and been very
successful with them. I often check Amazon reader reviews and select a
second book to round things out. It's important to setup machines with
both XP and Server on them and practice the concepts. A virtual
environment can be very helpful using VMWare or VirtualPC. Only use
practice tests at the end of your study to guage your grasp of the
material. Transcender, MeasureUp, and SelfTest are considered to be
legitmate.

Thanks for the info catwalker. In the past I have used Sybex and found them
to be adequate, but I am leaning towards MS Press. Again thanks for all the
info.

My first test was NT4 Networking using an MS book. I studied the book pretty
well and got about 67% and failed since the pass was 70%. I was cheesed off
when there were questions in the exam that were definitely not covered in
the book. This spite of the fact the book said clearly on the front and back
that this book contains ALL you need to know to pass the exam. I used New
Riders for all the other tests, plus other stuff...
