I do, and I got it in January at 14.95 before they ended the sale.
The service is so-so, and many limitations.
They programmed the software to check your IP location. So if you leave the
country, you can no longer use the unlimited service.
I would suspect to prevent from people from selling accounts to people in
other countries.
The biggest complaint form people is they have trouble hearing me, and echo.
A PhD in computer science told me once that if you can do in hardware, the
same can be done in software.
Real world experience say BULL ****.
Having a box plugged into the internet sounds a LOT better than Skype's
voice software garbage.
Problem with Skype is their propritary protocol and that all hardware still
has to go through their software which means it's still gonna sound like
crap.
I don't want to leave a power sucking computer on all the time. Maybe in
Socialist Europe (where Skype is located) they can do that where I am sure
the government subsidizes the price of electricity.
On the receiving side it sounds good, but as I mentioned before people
always seem to have trouble hearing you.
Though in the past few days I noticed it has sounded better.
Forget about SkpeIn.
I was just about to go ahead and purchase it for $35 for a year. When I
noticed they changed the freaking price. Doubled it.
Screw them. You can get a FREE incoming number from
www.aimphoneline.com.
(nearest large city)
OR you can Buy a number of your choice from Yahoo! Phone for a lot cheaper.
You can also get a free inbound number using hardware from IPKall.com,
though you have to use it with a service such as
www.freeworlddialup.com
which only gives you a virtual number, hence no calling to regular phone
lines, except toll free numbers.
That is free and sounds better than Skype.
