Default what subnet calculation to use for 70-216

what subnet calculation to use for 70-216?

Cisco and Microsoft do not use the same formula to calculate the number
of possible subnets:

Microsoft: Number of subnets: 2^number-of-subnet-bits

Cisco: Number of subnets: 2^number-of-subnet-bits - 2

http://support.microsoft.com/default...;en-us;q164015
supports this claim but the study guides do not. Not sure which one to
use for the exam

Any help would be appreciated

Unless the question mentions an RFC, you won't be asked to choose between
2^n and 2^n-2.

Know both ways and read the questions very carefully!
