Hi All,

I am planning to go for MCSE 2003 with network security
specialisation. I seek guidance from you guys as to how
shall i plan my studies, what books shall i refer etc.
Moreover, how are the chances of getting a good job after
doing the said certification?

With warm regards,

Parag Shah

If you're in the US. If you're in India you've got a great chance of finding
work.

Hi Frisbee,

Thanx for the prompt reply. If, according to you, chances
are slim to none, why do so many people appear for the
same? Hasn't it got any value?

With warm regards,

It *used* to be valuable, and that's why so many people want to be
certified. However, since so many people are certified, it decreases it's
value. It's like if I had 1 Ty Cobb rookie card. I'd value it at more than
my own life. But, if I had 100, each one wouldn't be as valuable as the one
before it. Follow? There are too many chefs in the kitchen, here, and way
too many unqualified chefs. It's not impossible to get a job, but it's a lot
harder than it was 5 years ago.

I would guess a few thousand rupees a day. Or do they pay in goats and
chickens?

As Briscobar has already stated, there's just too many people who are
already qualified for this position. One cannot simply attain a
certification and hope to land a well-paying job. Parag, try to get some
experience first. Work with the product on your own time. Then volunteer
some work so that you can place some experience on a resume'. After you
have practice and some real-world experience, *then* look to get certified.
Trust me, a certification alone will not land you a good job.
