is there any way to make the domain users to brows the internet pages as well
as browsing the domain with out using ISA ,because the Windows XP /2000 use the DNS to brows the domain and to find the domain controller and the DNS in the domain controller can’t resolve names for any host out side the domain I tried the following : I typed in Preferred DNS server: “the IP for the Active service server” And the Alternate DNS server: “My ISP DNS Server IP” But I failed I installed only a DNS Server in my domain to enable forwarder service and I did it ,, but its not working very well is there any other way ?? -- Mohamed Taher System Eng. Get someone who writes coherent English to do your post as the one you have written makes no sense. It's like trying to read a machine language translation of FORTRAN. As guess the thing you need to do is On your Primary DNS machine, put the IP address for your ISP as the preferred DNS and the IP address of the Primary DNS server itself as the secondary --------------------------------------------------------------------- Lnkwizard2 MCNGP 2^5 http://www.mcngp.com "He who does not test himself is worthless indeed" --------------------------------------------------------------------- LnkWizard |

You have to configure your internal dns server to forward to your ISP dns
server and/or make sure that the "root" [.] domain is deleted in the forward zones for your dns server to allow your dns server to use "root hints" to resolve internet names. The link below will explain in detail. Your dns server will need outbound access on port 53 UDP to the internet. --- Steve http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;300202 "Mohamed Taher" <> wrote in message news:A0FBC70A-E9CD-433F-8056-... > is there any way to make the domain users to brows the internet pages as > well > as browsing the domain with out using ISA ,because the Windows XP /2000 > use > the DNS to brows the domain and to find the domain controller and the DNS > in > the domain controller can't resolve names for any host out side the domain > I > tried the following : > I typed in Preferred DNS server: "the IP for the Active service server" > And the Alternate DNS server: "My ISP DNS Server IP" > But I failed > > I installed only a DNS Server in my domain to enable forwarder service and > I > did it ,, but its not working very well is there any other way ?? > > -- > Mohamed Taher > System Eng. > Smart-Tec > ADSL Service Provider > 20121515084 Steven L Umbach |

And to add to all these good suggestions, you may need to set up your own DNS server in a DMZ and forward to it if your ISP doesn't allow forwarding. ....kurt "catwalker63" <_catwalker63_@hotmamamail.com> wrote in message news:Xns95D79D2B92E3Ecatwalker63athotmail@216.196. 97.136... > "Steven L Umbach" <> prattled ceaslessly > in news:q7udnaTo3osZkELcRVn-: > > > You have to configure your internal dns server to forward to your ISP > > dns server and/or make sure that the "root" [.] domain is deleted in > > the forward zones for your dns server to allow your dns server to use > > "root hints" to resolve internet names.
