Twenty dollars and tips -- same as downtown.

Unless he's one of us who look down on Outlook Express and who use
better FREE news clients. There are plenty of those readily available,
which seems a surprisingly big secret for most OEheads.

Pure Windows (i.e., no ports ot other operating systems): Xnews, Dialog,
Thunderbird, XPN, for a start. Google will find them.
news.readers.software is an excellent group for advice and help with
news clients other than IE (and Thunderbird, which has a dedicated
support group on the mozilla.org news server).

CORRECTION: My silly bad. XPN is a Linux app and Thunderbird isn't
limited to Windows. Been a long day. Anyway, of the three above (the
four I mentioned minus XPN), I listed them in order from best to least
best, IMO. Frankly, I only recommend Thunderbird over OE, but since
you're using OE I included here as relevant.

I just answered in another post, poorly, and had to reply to *that*
reply to correct my first. Please read both of those for your answer.

If you qualify as a student you can get Visual Studio which has C++ and
Visual Basic for around a hundred dollars in the educational version. It
also has C and some Microsoft Java Compatible program. There is a free
C++ called developmental C++ which you can download and there are
actually quite a few free programming programs that you can download if
you search for them. There is some open source free programs such as
Redhat and Boreland which makes Assemply Language free if you fill out a
form. There is one called Python which someone was developing then
abandoned so it became freeware. And you can get QBasic and all sorts of
similar programs like GWBasic as free downloads. There is a Dos Version
of Visual Basic which was available free and which I used to compile
Qbasic programs.
