Invoking Java Command from Http Address?

I need to combine two links into one, as follows. I have a site
http://muvy.org/new.php#start, and I want to email a link to that page, and
also make it invoke the Java command javascript:gu(1620,'new');. This is a
better alternative than giving the recipient annoying instructions about
where to scroll and what to click.

Is that possible, or are we stuck with annoying instructions?

Well you just pasted a link, so that's the same for an email.

Java isn't JavaScript you have confused 2 different things.

Non intuitive page / having to supply instructions means you have to
rethink what you are trying to do.

It looks like both methods are annoying.

>Is that possible, or are we stuck with annoying instructions?

Only the instructions would work for me as I have JavaScript blocked by
firewall and turned off in 2 browsers anyway. So it wouldn't work.

Looking at the page just now you have JavaScript and PHP already, so
what's stopping you adding what you want to what is already there.

This has to be a record.

<http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fmuvy.org%2Fnew.php>

"Failed validation, 3212 errors"

If you try the link, be patient. It takes awhile to run. <duh!>

None of your links look like links:

Looks like it will be for a while as well, hard to beat. Must have taken
lessons to score that high.

It works perfectly fine for me, but maybe I should have mentioned that
I'm running XP Pro andf IE 6.

Are all of your visitors using the same OS and browser? Have you ever
tested it in multiple browsers, different window sizes and the like?

Seriously, the page is terribly written. It also loads rather slowly,
even on my 10Mbps cable. See also:

Just 1 browser, loaded page takes 11-12 seconds on 10Mbps cable for the
1st time. About 11-6.8Kbps and several pauses.

Lots of bits of text on the right hand side at the radio buttons
missing, links don't work and a huge message -

This page requires Javascript

Odd really, hyperlinks are simple enough to do, but breaking then with
scripting.

That's right, I have on of everything in my house. ... not.

I see that you're running Opera, so I conclude that the Opera has some
featire that slows down this page load. The page was obviously designed
for IE, because it works fine and fast for me, on that platform.
However I do find it annoying that a javascript call is used to pop-up
the articles, rather than an http address.

Did you try going directly to the video, to bypass an annoying trip
through Muvy?

You're not running IE either, are you?

If you only test in one browser, you won't ever be a competent web
developer.

You conclude incorrectly. Clear your own browser's cache and try it
again yourself. The choice of browser has nothing to do with the speed
from your web server to my computer. Opera is a rather quick browser, by
the way.

Ok then, if you are to be the only visitor to the site (and that is
likely, seeing how it is designed), you have no worries. If on the other
hand, you expect others to view it, you need to be more concerned.

No, and why would any visitor even want to do that? One should not have
to jump through hoops just to see a page.
