I have a Linksys WRT54G router and am trying to set up using WEP. I
have tried two computers and have not been successful. Both are
running XP SP2, one with a built-in Intel adapter and the other with a
D-link cardbus adapter. I get the same result with both devices -
"Limited Connectivity", neither can complete the acquiring address
phase of the connection process.

I've done numerous searches of the newsgroup and Google searches to
find this problem discussed but never a definitive answer for a fix.
Is there a documented fix for WEP using DHCP somewhere?

Don't use pass phrase use HEX . Since your hardware is all from different
manufacturers. The router is capable of 128 bit and 64 bit and also WPA.
Make sure you are using the latest firmware for the router and drivers for
the cards.
40 or 64 bit HEX WEP code has 10 characters
104 or 128 bit WEP code has 13 characters
HEX any key A-F and 0-9
Have it set for open not shared
Use Mac Filtering also.

I'm entering a pass phrase on the router and then entering the
generated HEX code into client adapter. Isn't this the proper
sequence? Drivers are up to date.

I just manually enter the HEX key in the router and the card. I also read
here to keep it in notepad so I can copy and paste it to all the computers.
