I will try to keep this as short as possible. Here is the backround. We have a root server and 2 child domains. The forest level is Windows 2003. We hold 3 Active Directory Integrated Zones, which are replicated throughtout the entire forest. The root and one child domain are on one subnet. The other child domain is on another. The child domain and the root that are on the same subnet point to themselves as their perferred DNS server. The problem occurs when I try to point the other DNS server to itself. It get W32Time errors. I verified that the root server was set as the perferred time server on the DC and it works fine. There is about a 5 miles between the 2 buildings. We are connected at each end via fiber with 2 Cisco 6509 routers. I run a query for the time server and it completes sucessfully. I also run a netdiag which fails on the DNS portion. When I point the DNS server the the Root Server, no errors occur. I could leave it this way, but common sense says there is definatley something I am missing. Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated.
