or better yet - if you deployed the bugger and got hands on experience -
what do you think my chances are of getting sharepoint to work with GSNW? i.e. the user's home directories are being stored on a netware file & print server? It has to run on a 2003 server and you can use the MSDE for storage. The files on your Netware boxes will not be stored there. Once you put them into sharepoint, they live in the database. I suppose you can leave the files on your Netware boxes and use the search to crawl them but then you are really not using Sharepoint at that point. The whole thing is designed around collaboration and to do that most effectively you should put them in the system. (And have Office 2003 while your at it.) Jtyc |

(And have Office 2003 while your > at it.) thanks for that great post Jtyc. i got sharepoint 2003 running on 2003 srv and there is a mix of office 2002 and 2003 in the environment. my head scratcher is, can i (or how to i) give the users access to their home foldes when they are logging into sharepoint from home? I'm not too familiar with Netware but I'm guessing their home folders are not using Active Directory for authentication. If you had Portal Server running with the Single Sign-on service, perhaps there might be a method to pass credentials and then maybe use the search to crawl their folders. That seems a bit sloppy though. Jtyc |

That seems a bit sloppy though. i was thinking of setting up the sharepoint box with GSNW to the netware volume. then map drive letters to users individual home folders (there will only be about 10 - 15 users in the test phase - so i shouldn't run out of letters) and try to find a way to allow users access to their respective drive letters. i don't know if the product works that way. my main goal is reduction of data duplicaion. when you guys implement it with AD, do the users have access to their home folders automatically when they authenticate via AD user account or do the users still have to put the files they want to colaborate with into the sharepoint doc. library manually? My opinion of GSNW is not great. We are looking at the integration of PeopleSoft data as well and will likely have to look at MIIS and Biztalk to make it work... -- Neil MCNGP #30 "you'd do what, to who, for how many biscuits?"
