is it a domain or just looking about the server?
"fran" <> wrote in message news:EA2A6C78-85CA-485C-9D01-... > I want to connect a Windows ME machine to a Windows2000 network with DHCP enabled. I figured i could just use the guest account and make sure the right protocols are installed but the setup is different in ME than in 2000. What right protocols should i have installed and what configuration should i have. It this task at all possible without having to add the user in the server? billyw |

If there's no domain, then there's no domain, just stick with the workgroup,
but you'll have to be a little more specific, what don't you understand about ME settings? What are you looking for? ipconfig in winME? I think you ment to say winipcfg. Did you try to just
refresh? Also sometimes its the simplest solutions, do you have a link light on your NIC? "franz" <> wrote in message news:0F1F6650-4C44-40D8-9893-... > For one thing, how and where do i set it up so that my laptop can see the existing network? I have left the IP address alone to be configured automatically and did not enable the DNS. I also noticed that the NetBIOS over TCP/IP settings is greyed out. IPconfig shows no subnet, no IP, and no default gateway. I know that there is something i am missing but what is it? Hired Goon |
