Outlook Express 64 Bit Spell Check Broken

I'm a few weeks into using a new computer with Windows x64 on it, and I just
now realize that I have no spell check in Outlook Express. When I hit F7 I
get a window that says an error occured while checking the spelling.

Does Outlook Express use the spell checker from MS Office? And is this
error due to an incompatability between 64 bit OE and 32 bit MS Office?
(I'm actually using Office 97 - never saw a need to upgrade. So maybe that
is part of the problem.)

I'm assuming that short of getting a 64 bit version of office (if it
exists), or figuring out how to run 32 bit OE on x64, spell check won't
work. Is that accurate - or is there some other problem here?

Thanks in advance.

Outlook Express has never had spell-checking capabilities of its
own. Instead, it has always relied upon the presence of other Microsoft
applications, such as the Office Suite, Word, or the Works _Suite_
(which includes Word, not the regular Works). Unfortunately, though,
the 64-bit version of OE cannot use the spell-checking feature of the
32-bit Office applications. You can either wait for 64-bit versions of
the Office applications (for which Microsoft has yet to announce any
plans of developing), seek out a third-party spell-checker that works
with the 64-bit version of OE, or use a third-party email and news
client, such as Thunderbird, that has its own spell-checking capability
built-in.

I had the same problem. I got a complete solution from this website.
(Method 2 did the trick. Method 1 didn't work.) Hope this helps.
