Is headless support provided?

Could somone please tell me whether the 64-bit XP already supports headless
operating? Or will only server editions of 64-bit Windows provide support for
headless operating as indicated in the article 'Designing for 64-bit Windows'
at www.microsoft.com?

Specifically, I am interested whether I can remove the video controller. Our
BIOS will support use without the video card present.

Regards,
Susanne

I honestly don't know, but I would not expect it to work in XP. Given that
XP is not supposed to be a server operating system, the case for headless is
not terribly compelling. But, given that XP x64 is based on Server 2k3 SP1
code, you might get lucky. But I doubt it would be considered a supported
scenario.

Hello,
It should work as far as I know. I think the same code for running
headless exists on both client and server.
For example embedded Windows XP would have to support running headless.
We are just talking running headless right or are we also asking about
running EMS?
Thanks,
Darrell Gorter[MSFT]

Thank you for answering. Headless support is supported in the current Windows
XP Professional - so I just hope that the support continues. If someone has
got some information you are welcome to post it!

Regards,
Susanne

Hello,

it is true that Windows XP embedded supports running headless. And I am just
talking about running headless and not about running EMS. We have to know for
sure now as the current hardware design depends on this information.

Greetings

Hello Susanne,
I checked to just to make sure. Yes if the hardware supports it, Windows
XP x64 edition supports running headless
