But I'm upgrading Vista Beta2 x64 to Vista RC1 x64. Does that mean I can
simply upgrade?

If you want to check the MD5SUM of the downloaded files, I have a MD5
checker, with the Vista RC1 MD5's already configured here:
http://www.markgillespie.co.uk/VistaMD5Check.zip

I will update the build data when new CPP releases come out.

My general purpose, multithreaded MD5 checker can be got from here:
http://www.markgillespie.co.uk/MD5Check.zip

Both have 32bit and x64 versions of the MD5 Calc. The x64 version seems
alot faster at calculating..

moving up to 1.5 gigs makes a huge difference. I tried running on
the original 1 gig and saw the same thing you did.

for around $23-$25 you can buy a Turtle Beach USB Audio which will
pull down drivers for x64 from WU. it works quite well.

Am I missing something...?
I thought that Beta 2 -> RC1 *was* a supported upgrade scenario (x86 and
x64).
Upgrading any other beta build to RC1 might work but is not supported.

Beta to Beta upgrades are possible, but not a supported scenario. I have not
tried upgrade Vista x64 builds beta to beta, but I suspect its not possible.

I tested this on the Ferrari 4000 - it worked.

Did some checking.

Vista x64 -> Vista x64 upgrade is possible and legitimate. Beta2 -> RC1
upgrade is also supported. Upgrade to RC1 over other beta builds is not
supported (but is not disabled and will probably work, judging from the
posts of people who have tried it). You can upgrade XP SP2 (x86) to Vista
RC1, or Vista Beta 2 to RC1 (either x86 or x64, naturally, you cannot use
the upgrade to switch platforms).

Microsoft also recommends that you install all of the critical updates for
Vista Beta 2 before you upgrade. These are available through the Windows
Update control panel.

Tony:
I just received the E-mail about RC1 being available and one of the
two product keys, that I was assigned from beta 2 was listed in the E-mail.
