Jane:

I agree with you fully. I made my first error when I purchased
System works 2006 instead of Ghost 10, because I clicked the wrong box and
didn't pay attention to what I was downloading. I was going to see if Ghost
10 would be compatible with x64. For file images or system back-ups I use
Retrospect 7.5 which is fully compatible with x64. I still use the original
PM8 from PowerQuest. For AV I went over to Nod32 which is fully compatible
with x64.

I gave up on Norton a few years ago after a few bad experiences with it.
Never again. There are many alternatives available which don't bog the
system down, are smaller in file size and footprint, and don't need the
abilities of Sherlock Holmes to hunt down and remove remaining traces after
a so-called uninstall And even better, they're free or low cost

My preferred AV for x64 is Avast! No trouble with it at all.

My memory may be short, but wasn't it Norton that originally inspired
renaming back-ups to [back-oops]?

Tony. . .
