SCSI question

Hello All

I hope that an XP64 SCSI question is in order. I'm not that happy with
this dual/dual Opteron rig yet and I am now wondering if the problem
lies with the four SCSI drives. I'm running the very fastest Seagate's
and the computer builder has used a cable with many more connectors than
required. I have always understood that to run like this is risking
getting an "echo" from the unused connectors, is this likely to be a
factor?

Cheers

Richard

It shouldn't affect performance, assuming quality cables and termination.
But if you're in any doubt at all, replace the cables with ones from Granite
Digital. (www.granitedigital.com) They are simply the best. Include a good
active terminator as well. I've used their stuff since the 80's, when SCSI
was _hard_. They're extremely knowledgeable and helpful, and they've dug me
out of a hole more than once.
