Any domain, including Samba, NT4, Win2k, and W2k3.
It's still not a great idea, IMHO. Each machine will, over time, have
different things installed. I think it's easy to get around the problems of
different names, but really annoying to think you're doing one thing, but
actually be doing something else.
(BTW, if you want to just connect to something, keep them at the same IP
address, and map drives to the IP address.)
