I have been playing around with windows xp and 64 and can't get either to
work. I am using a Asus A8N-E with Athlon XP 64. With Win XP had rundll
errors all the time, with win 64, after initial updates and latest mobo/bios
updates from Asus, I can't get updates from windows updates, virus software
won't install and update, downloads fail from various sites. Is win xp 64
just a pile of excrement, or should I scrap my 64 bit processor and go back
to win xp (win 2000 has been the only 'trouble free' OS I have had from
windows)

Sounds like the good old nVidia Firewall. Please reinstall then uninstall
the nVidia Firewall to remove it completely from your system.

I remember Win2000, it took 3 service pack updates to stabilize it. XP x64
has been stable since the beta versions.

I should also ask, if you are using the RTM version of XP Professional x64
as some users are still running the RC1 releases which are not supported. N,
click Start > Run > type in "winver" without quotes click ok, and tell me
what does it say beside the Version information?
