OK, sorry, but that got lost in the other noise.

1.) There are newish BIOS and chipset drivers on the ASUS page. BIOS 1013.
Please apply that, AFTER updating the chipset version to V6.65.

2.) Then download and apply updated AC97 drivers (version 5.10.00.5830 -
they're beta, but your best bet at this point.)

Well, I must say that so far I am more than happy with my A8N-SLI Premium
mobo. Everything works A-OK (both on xp64 as well as Win Server 2003 x64).
My media player works just fine and I'm using the nVidia drivers for it (obviously
it doesn't work on W2K3 as it doesn't have WMP ).

So I guess not everyone have problems with A8N-SLI. However reading this
ng it certainly looks like there are a multitude of problems with this mobo
(makes me wonder how much can be put down to operator error though).

All good points. It's clearly possible to get it working right. And it looks
like the driver situation is improving. One thing we haven't seen is a
detailed 'what to do, and what NOT to do' with this mobo. Which we basically
have with the A8V, since I and others have found out the hard way that the
Promise controller is basically useles for normal drives, and exactly what
is required for the VIA controller, etc.

not to be argumentative or anything <G> but my A8N-SLI Deluxe is
happily running Vista x64 and I'm not unhappy with the 64 bit support.
Of course if you count the fact that the first mobo started to commit
suicide and had to be replaced, then that might change the frames of
reference some. The fans on these need to be replaced and ASUS isn't
even asking for the serial # on the mobo anymore. You send them an
email and a few days later FEDEX arrives.

Right, I have now done (I believe) 4 clean installations of xp64 and W2k3
64 on this (A8N-SLI Premium) mobo and I have never had any probs what so
ever. I'll see if I have time tomorrow to do a write up. I.e. what drivers
I have used etc.
